অ্যাব্যাক পাউডার ফর সাসপেনশন হল কেমিস্ট ল্যাবরেটরিজ লিমিটেড-এর উৎপাদিত একটি প্রথম প্রজন্মের সেফালোস্পোরিন অ্যান্টিবায়োটিক, যাতে রয়েছে সেফরাডিন (১২৫ মিগ্রা/৫ মিলি)। ৳৯৫.০০ মূল্যের এই পাউডার ফর সাসপেনশন শ্বাসতন্ত্র, মূত্রতন্ত্র ও ত্বকের সংক্রমণে কার্যকর।

গ্রাম-পজিটিভ ও গ্রাম-নেগেটিভ ব্যাকটেরিয়া ধ্বংস করে, এমনকি পেনিসিলিন-প্রতিরোধী স্ট্রেইনেও কাজ করে। শিশুদের ক্ষেত্রে ডোজ (২৫-১০০ মিগ্রা/কেজি/দিন) সংক্রমণের তীব্রতা অনুযায়ী নির্ধারিত হয়। রেকনস্টিটিউটেড সাসপেনশন ঘরের তাপমাত্রায় ৭ দিন ও ফ্রিজে ১৪ দিন ব্যবহারযোগ্য।

প্রধান ব্যবহার:

• সাইনুসাইটিস, নিউমোনিয়ার মতো শ্বাসতন্ত্রের সংক্রমণ
• সিস্টাইটিস, পাইলোনেফ্রাইটিসের মতো মূত্রনালীর সমস্যা
• ফোঁড়া, সেলুলাইটিসের মতো ত্বক ও নরম কলার সংক্রমণ

প্রোবেনেসিড বা ডাইইউরেটিকসের সাথে মিথস্ক্রিয়া সম্ভাবনা রয়েছে। পেটব্যথা, বমিভাব সাধারণ পার্শ্বপ্রতিক্রিয়া, তবে অ্যালার্জিজনিত প্রতিক্রিয়া বিরল। শিশুদের নাগালের বাইরে রাখুন এবং চিকিৎসকের পরামর্শে ব্যবহার করুন।

Adults: 250-500 mg every 6 hours. Children: 25-50 mg/kg/day in 4 divided doses. Renal impairment requires dose adjustment. Administer with/without food. Treatment duration 7-14 days depending on infection severity.

Limited essentially to gastro-intestinal disturbances and on occasions to hypersensitivity phenomena. The latter are more likely to occur in individuals, who have previously demonstrated hypersensitivity and thos with a history of allergy, asthma, hay fever or urticaria. Skin reactions have occasionally been reported. Rare- Glossitis, heartburn, dizziness, tightness in the chest, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, vaginitis, candida overgrowth. Skin and hypersensitivity reactions include urticaria, skin rashes, joint pains, oedema.

• Blood and lymphatic system disorders- Unknown: blood disorders (including thrombocytopenia, leucopenia, agranulocytosis, aplastic anaemia and haemolytic anaemia)
• Immune system disorders- Unknown: Fever, serum sickness like reactions, anaphylaxis
• Psychiatric disorders- Unknown: Confusion, sleep disturbances
• Nervous system disorders- Unknown: hyperactivity, hypertonia, dizziness, nervousness; Rarely: Headache
• Hepatobiliary disorders- Frequency unknown: Liver, enzyme disturbances, transient hepatitis, cholestatic jaundice
• Renal and urinary disorders- Unknown: Reversible interstitial nephritis
• Investigations- Unknown: Elevation of blood urea nitrogen, serum creatinine, alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, total bilirubin, alkaline phosphatase.

Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed (Category B). Exercise caution in lactation – excreted in breast milk. May affect neonatal gut microbiome.

Monitor for superinfections during prolonged use. Caution in patients with cross-allergy risk. Regular renal/hepatic function tests required. May cause false-positive urine glucose tests.

Renal impairment requires dose reduction (50% dose for CrCl <20 ml/min). Pediatric maximum daily dose 4gm. No dose adjustment needed in liver disease. Elderly require creatinine clearance assessment.

The symptoms of Sefrad overdose are non-specific and are generally nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and gastric upsets. Treatment is mainly supportive although gastric lavage will be necessary if a large amount has been ingested.
