এবাক্লোর হল এসিআই লিমিটেড প্রস্তুতকৃত সেফাক্লর মনোহাইড্রেট (১২৫ মি.গ্রা./১.২৫ মি.লি.) সমৃদ্ধ একটি শিশুদের অ্যান্টিবায়োটিক। পেডিয়াট্রিক ড্রপ আকারে প্রাপ্ত এই ঔষধের মূল্য ৳১৩৫.০০। এটি স্ট্রেপ্টোকক্কাস, ই-কোলাই দ্বারা সৃষ্ট শ্বাসতন্ত্র ও ত্বকের সংক্রমণে কার্যকর।

১ মাসের ঊর্ধ্বে শিশুদের জন্য ডোজ সঠিকভাবে মাপার সুবিধা রয়েছে। প্রস্তুতকৃত সাসপেনশন কক্ষ তাপমাত্রায় ৭ দিন ও ফ্রিজে ১৪ দিন সংরক্ষণযোগ্য। কিডনি রোগেও সাধারণত ডোজ সমন্বয়ের প্রয়োজন হয় না। ওটাইটিস মিডিয়া ও নিউমোনিয়ায় ক্লিনিক্যালি প্রমাণিত эффективতা রয়েছে।

হালকা জ্বর, পেটব্যথা বা ডায়রিয়া হতে পারে। স্তন্যদানকারী মায়েদের সতর্কতা অবলম্বন করা উচিত। ওয়ারফারিনের সাথে ব্যবহারে রক্তজমাট সময় বাড়তে পারে। এবাক্লোর ঔষধের পার্শ্বপ্রতিক্রিয়া সম্পর্কে চিকিৎসকের পরামর্শ নিন।

Dosage & Administration

Adults: 250 mg every 8 hours. Children: 20-40 mg/kg/day (divided doses). Measure Pediatric Drops as prescribed. No dose adjustment in renal impairment. Treat for 7-14 days. Take with/without food.

Side Effects

Gastro-intestinal symptoms may occur include diarrhea, nausea and vomiting in some patients receiving Abaclor. As with some penicillins and some other Cephalosporins, transient hepatitis and cholestatic jaundice have been reported rarely. Fever, abdominal pain, superinfection, renal dysfunction, toxic nephropathy, hemorrhage, elevated LDH and pancytopenia may occur.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Pregnancy safety unconfirmed. Excreted minimally in breast milk. Use with caution.

Precautions & Warnings

Prolonged use may cause superinfection. Check allergy history before using Cefaclor Monohydrate. Caution in colitis patients.

Use in Special Populations

Pediatric: Not safe under 1 month. Geriatric: No dose adjustment. Renal: Modify dose in dialysis. Hepatic: No specific guidelines.

Overdose Effects

The toxic symptoms following an overdose of Abaclor may include nausea, vomiting, epigastric distress, and diarrhea.
