এবাক্লোর হল সেফালোস্পোরিন গ্রুপের একটি অ্যান্টিবায়োটিক, যাতে সক্রিয় উপাদান হিসেবে রয়েছে সেফাক্লর মনোহাইড্রেট (১২৫ মিগ্রা/৫ মিলি)। এসিআই লিমিটেড প্রস্তুতকৃত এই সাসপেনশনের পাউডার বাংলাদেশে প্রতি বোতল ৳২৮০ দামে পাওয়া যায়। নিউমোনিয়া, টনসিলাইটিস এবং ত্বকের সংক্রমণে এটি অত্যন্ত কার্যকর।

সাইড ইফেক্টের মধ্যে পেটখারাপ (১২% ক্ষেত্রে) এবং বমিভাব সাধারণ। ০.৫% রোগীর মধ্যে হেপাটাইটিস বা রক্তের সমস্যা দেখা দিতে পারে। গর্ভাবস্থায় শুধুমাত্র জরুরি অবস্থায় ব্যবহারের সুপারিশ করা হয়। ওয়ারফারিন সহ অন্যান্য ওষুধের সাথে ইন্টারঅ্যাকশন এড়াতে সতর্কতা প্রয়োজন।

সাসপেনশন প্রস্তুত করার পর ফ্রিজে রাখলে ১৪ দিন স্থায়ী হয়। এবাক্লোর ১২৫ শিশুদের জন্য ডোজ সহজীকরণে পেডিয়াট্রিক ড্রপস সহযোগে পাওয়া যায়। দাম ও গুণগত মানের সমন্বয়ে এটি বাংলাদেশের জনপ্রিয় অ্যান্টিবায়োটিকের মধ্যে অন্যতম।

Dosage & Administration

Adults: 250mg every 8hrs. Children: 20-40mg/kg/day in 3 divided doses. No dosage adjustment needed in renal impairment. Shake suspension well before use. Treat streptococcal infections for minimum 10 days. Refer to suspension preparation guidelines.

Side Effects

Gastro-intestinal symptoms may occur include diarrhea, nausea and vomiting in some patients receiving Abaclor. As with some penicillins and some other Cephalosporins, transient hepatitis and cholestatic jaundice have been reported rarely. Fever, abdominal pain, superinfection, renal dysfunction, toxic nephropathy, hemorrhage, elevated LDH and pancytopenia may occur.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Use in pregnancy only if benefits outweigh risks. Caution in lactation due to breast milk excretion. Follow ACI Limited recommendations.

Precautions & Warnings

Monitor for superinfections during prolonged use. Regular renal function tests advised. Discontinue if antibiotic-associated colitis occurs.

Use in Special Populations

Pediatrics: Safe above 1 month. Geriatric: No dose adjustment. Renal failure: Requires post-dialysis dosing. Hepatic impairment: Use with caution.

Overdose Effects

The toxic symptoms following an overdose of Abaclor may include nausea, vomiting, epigastric distress, and diarrhea.
