এবাক্লোর (জেনেরিক: সেফাক্লর মনোহাইড্রেট) হলো এসিআই লিমিটেড প্রস্তুতকৃত একটি দ্বিতীয়-প্রজন্মের সেফালোস্পোরিন অ্যান্টিবায়োটিক। ২৫০ মি.গ্রা. ক্যাপসুল আকারে প্রাপ্ত এই ঔষধ শ্বাসতন্ত্র, ত্বক ও মূত্রনালীর সংক্রমণে ব্যবহৃত হয়। প্রতি ইউনিট ৳২১.১৪ দামে প্রাপ্ত এই ঔষধের স্ট্রিপের মূল্য ৳২১১.৪০।

এটি স্ট্রেপ্টোকক্কাস, স্ট্যাফিলোকক্কাস, ই. কোলাই এবং হিমোফাইলাস ইনফ্লুয়েঞ্জার বিরুদ্ধে কার্যকর। β-ল্যাক্টামেজ প্রতিরোধক্ষমতার কারণে প্রথম-প্রজন্মের সেফালোস্পোরিনের চেয়ে এর কার্যকারিতা বিস্তৃত। নাসোফ্যারিঞ্জিয়াল সংক্রমণে বিশেষভাবে efektif, বিশেষ করে টনসিলাইটিস ও ওটাইটিস মিডিয়ায়।

ডোজ নির্দেশনা:

প্রাপ্তবয়স্ক: ৮ ঘন্টায় ২৫০ মিগ্রা (সর্বোচ্চ ৪ গ্রাম/দিন)
শিশু: ২০-৪০ মিগ্রা/কেজি/দিন (বিভক্ত ডোজ)

কিডনি রোগীদের ডোজ সমন্বয়ের প্রয়োজন নেই। হিমোডায়ালাইসিস রোগীদের ক্ষেত্রে বিশেষ ডোজ প্রোটোকল অনুসরণ করুন। কক্ষ তাপমাত্রায় সংরক্ষণ করুন; রিকনস্টিটিউটেড সাসপেনশন ৭-১৪ দিন ব্যবহারযোগ্য।

ডায়রিয়া ও বমিভাব সাধারণ পার্শ্বপ্রতিক্রিয়া। যকৃতের জটিলতা বিরল। গর্ভাবস্থা/স্তন্যদানকালে সতর্কতা প্রয়োজন। ওয়ারফারিনের সাথে ইন্টারঅ্যাকশনে প্রোথ্রোম্বিন সময় নিয়মিত মনিটরিং আবশ্যক। এবাক্লোর ১২৫ মিগ্রা/৫ মিলি পেডিয়াট্রিক ফর্মুলেশন শিশুদের জন্য উপযোগী।

Dosage & Administration

Adults: 250 mg every 8 hrs. Children: 20-40 mg/kg/day (divided). Renal impairment requires dose adjustment. Treat otitis media for 10 days. Swallow capsules whole with/without food.

Side Effects

Gastro-intestinal symptoms may occur include diarrhea, nausea and vomiting in some patients receiving Abaclor. As with some penicillins and some other Cephalosporins, transient hepatitis and cholestatic jaundice have been reported rarely. Fever, abdominal pain, superinfection, renal dysfunction, toxic nephropathy, hemorrhage, elevated LDH and pancytopenia may occur.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Use in pregnancy only if benefits outweigh risks. Low concentrations in breast milk—caution advised.

Precautions & Warnings

Avoid unnecessary use to prevent resistance. Monitor for superinfections during prolonged therapy. Assess allergy history beforehand.

Use in Special Populations

Pediatrics: Not safe below 1 month. Geriatrics: No dose adjustment needed. Renal impairment: Supplemental dose post-dialysis.

Overdose Effects

The toxic symptoms following an overdose of Abaclor may include nausea, vomiting, epigastric distress, and diarrhea.
