এই ক্যাপসুল ব্যাকটেরিয়ার কোষপ্রাচীর গঠনে বাধা দিয়ে কাজ করে। ব্রংকাইটিস, সিস্টাইটিস, চর্মসংক্রমণের জন্য প্রযোজ্য। ডোজ সাধারণত ২৫০–৫০০ মি.গ্রা. প্রতিদিন ৬–১২ ঘণ্টা পরপর। শিশুদের ক্ষেত্রে ওজনভিত্তিক ডোজ (২৫–১০০ মি.গ্রা./কেজি/দিন) সুপারিশকৃত।

Dosage & Administration

Adults: 250-500 mg every 6 hours. For skin infections: 500 mg every 12 hours. Pediatric dose: 25-100 mg/kg/day. Renal impairment requires dose adjustment. Treatment duration varies between 7-14 days based on infection severity.

Side Effects

Side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and abdominal discomfort. Symptoms of pseudomembranous colitis may appear either during or after antibiotic treatment. Skin rash, angio oedema, rise in serum aminotransferases, eosinophilia, neutropenia have been reported very rarely. Superinfection with resistant micro organisms, particularly candida may follow the treatment.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Pregnancy Category B. Compatible with lactation but caution advised. Excreted in breast milk.

Precautions & Warnings

Monitor renal function in impaired patients. May cause false-positive urine glucose tests. Watch for superinfections during prolonged therapy.

Use in Special Populations

Pediatric: Weight-based dosing required. Geriatric: Adjust dose in renal impairment. Renal patients: Modify dosing intervals per CrCl.
