Aceril Tablet 2.5 mg

Aceril Tablet, containing Ramipril 2.5 mg, is a cardiovascular medication manufactured by Ibn Sina Pharmaceuticals Ltd. This tablet formulation belongs to the angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor class, primarily prescribed for hypertension management and cardiovascular risk reduction.

Its therapeutic benefits extend to post-myocardial infarction care and diabetic nephropathy management. Dosage varies from 1.25-20 mg daily, adjusted for renal function. Common side effects include dizziness (8-12% patients) and dry cough (5%). Severe reactions like angioedema require immediate discontinuation. Avoid concurrent NSAIDs and potassium supplements to prevent adverse interactions.

Aceril is generally well tolerated. Dizziness, headache, fatigue and asthenia are commonly reported side effects. Other side effects occurring less frequently include symptomatic hypotension, cough, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, rash, urticaria, oliguria, anxiety, amnesia etc. Angioneurotic oedema, anaphylactic reactions and hyperkalaemia have also been reported rarely.

Contraindicated in pregnancy—may cause fetal harm. Not recommended during lactation. Consult doctor if planning pregnancy.

Use cautiously in dehydration, electrolyte imbalance. Monitor BP, renal function. Discontinue before major surgery.

Elderly: Start with 1.25 mg. Renal impairment: reduce dose by 50%. Hepatic disease: max 2.5 mg/day. Pediatric safety unestablished.

Sign and symptom: Overdosage may cause excessive peripheral vasodilatation (with marked hypotension, shock), bradycardia, electrolyte disturbances, and renal failure.

Management: Primary detoxifcation by, for example, gastric lavage, administration of adsorbents, sodium sulfate; (if possible during the frst 30 minutes). In the event of hypotension administration of α1-adrenergic agonists (e.g. norepinephrine, dopamine) or angiotensin II (angiotensinamide), which is usually available only in scattered research laboratories, must be considered in addition to volume and salt substitution.
