Acnev Cream 1% w/w

Ekniv Cream (Clascoterone 1% w/w) is a topical anti-acne preparation manufactured by ACI Limited. This prescription cream inhibits androgen receptors to treat acne vulgaris in patients aged 12+. Priced at ৳850 per 1% w/w unit, it reduces sebum production and inflammation.

The cream’s novel mechanism blocks androgen signaling cascades linked to sebaceous gland hyperactivity. Apply twice daily (1g/session) on clean, dry skin. Avoid eyes, mouth, and mucous membranes. Wash thoroughly if accidental contact occurs.

Common side effects (7-12% users) include erythema, itching, and dryness. Severe reactions like swelling occur in 3% cases. No overdose data exists. Store unopened tubes at 2°-8°C; after opening, keep at 20°-25°C for ≤90 days.

Safety in pregnancy, lactation, or children under 12 remains unestablished. Consult physicians for alternatives like other acne treatment preparations. The Clascoterone brand shows minimal drug interaction risks.

Apply approximately 1g twice daily on clean, affected areas. Avoid eyes/mucous membranes. Duration as per physician advice. No dosage adjustment data for pediatrics <12 years.

Most common adverse reactions occurring in 7% to 12% of patients are erythema/ reddening, pruritus, and scaling/dryness. Additionally, >3% of patients may suffer from edema, stinging and burning.

Because clinical trials are conducted under widely varying conditions, adverse reaction rates observed in the clinical trials of a drug cannot be directly compared to rates in the clinical trials of another drug and may not reflect the rates observed in practice.

In two identical multicenter, randomized, double-blind, vehicle-controlled trials, 1421 subjects 12 years and older with facial acne vulgaris applied Acnev cream or vehicle twice daily for 12 weeks. Overall, 62% of the subjects were female, and 38% were male, 91% of the patients were Caucasian, and the mean age was 19.7 years.

Local skin reactions (edema, erythema/redness, pruritus, scaling/dryness, skin atrophy, stinging/burning, striae rubrea, telangiectasia) were observed during the 12-week treatment and occurred in a similar percentage of subjects treated with vehicle.

Pregnancy category: Unknown risk. Lactation safety undetermined. Consult physician before use.

Reduce frequency if irritation occurs. Monitor potassium levels in susceptible patients. Keep away from children.

Pediatric use <12 years not established. No specific recommendations for hepatic/renal impairment.

There is no experience of over dosage with Acnev.
