Description

Acora Tablet is a vital antiplatelet medication containing Ticagrelor (90 mg) manufactured by ACI Limited. Primarily used to prevent blood clots in acute coronary syndromes (ACS) and post-heart attack patients, this tablet works by inhibiting platelet aggregation. Priced at ৳75.00 per unit, it offers affordable cardiovascular protection with a standard pack of 10 tablets costing ৳750.00.

This medication requires co-administration with low-dose aspirin (75-150 mg) for optimal efficacy. The recommended dose starts with a 180 mg loading dose (two tablets) followed by 90 mg twice daily for 12 months in ACS cases. For extended treatment post-MI, a reduced 60 mg twice-daily regimen is advised. Dosage adjustments aren’t needed for elderly or renal-impaired patients.

Key precautions include avoiding use in severe hepatic impairment and caution with CYP3A4/P-gp inhibitors like cyclosporine. Common side effects include dyspnea, bleeding disorders, and gastrointestinal discomfort. Storage requires a cool, dry place away from light to maintain stability.

Drug interactions are significant:

  • Avoid strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., clarithromycin)
  • Use caution with statins >40 mg and P-gp substrates
  • Monitor bleeding risks with SSRIs or anticoagulants

Pregnant or breastfeeding women should avoid Acora unless benefits outweigh risks. Overdose may cause GI distress or ventricular pauses. Always consult a doctor before combining with other antiplatelet drugs or altering dosage schedules.
