Description

Fexofen Oral Suspension is a non-sedating antihistamine manufactured by Somatec Pharmaceuticals Ltd, containing Fexofenadine Hydrochloride (30 mg/5 ml). Priced at ৳50.00 per unit, this oral suspension offers cost-effective relief for allergic conditions while ensuring minimal drowsiness.

This medication treats allergic rhinitis and chronic idiopathic urticaria in adults and children above 12 years. Symptoms like sneezing, itchy eyes, nasal congestion, and hives are effectively managed by blocking H1 receptors without crossing the blood-brain barrier, reducing CNS side effects.

Dosage varies by age and condition:

  • Adults/children ≥12 years: 5 ml (30 mg) twice daily
  • Children 2–11 years: 5 ml twice daily
  • Renal impairment: Half the usual dose

Avoid antacids 2 hours before/after intake to prevent reduced efficacy.

Common side effects include headache, nausea, and dizziness. Rare but severe reactions include tachycardia or hypersensitivity. Safe use during pregnancy or lactation requires medical consultation. Store at room temperature, away from children.

Dosage & Administration

Adults & 12+ years: 30mg/5ml twice daily. Children (6mo-2yrs): 2.5ml twice daily. Halve dose for renal impairment. Administer with water, avoiding concurrent antacids. Maximum treatment duration: 6 months without medical supervision.
