Montium Tablet 10 mg

Montium Tablet is a leukotriene receptor antagonist containing Montelukast Sodium 10 mg, manufactured by Maks Drug Limited. Primarily prescribed for asthma prevention and chronic treatment, it also alleviates exercise-induced bronchoconstriction and allergic rhinitis symptoms. Priced at ৳16.00 per unit, this tablet form medication offers cost-effective respiratory management.

The drug works by blocking cysteinyl leukotriene receptors, reducing inflammation and bronchoconstriction. Adults and adolescents (15+ years) take 10 mg daily, while children (6 months-14 years) require lower doses. Store below 30°C, away from light/moisture. Common side effects include headache, nausea, and diarrhea, with rare neurological or behavioral changes reported.

Montium Tablet shows minimal interactions with drugs like warfarin or NSAIDs. Pregnant/lactating women should use it cautiously. Overdose symptoms may include drowsiness or abdominal pain. As a key Montelukast Sodium brand, it provides 24-hour protection against asthma triggers when taken nightly or pre-exercise.

Adults & 15+ years: 10 mg once daily. Children (6-14 yrs): 5 mg, 6 months-5 yrs: 4 mg. Take in evening for rhinitis, 2 hrs pre-exercise. Administer with/without food. Do not extend treatment duration without medical supervision.

Common: Diarrhoea, fever, gastrointestinal discomfort, headache, nausea, vomiting, skin reactions, upper respiratory tract infection.

Uncommon: Akathisia, anxiety, arthralgia, asthenia, abnormal behavior, depression, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, haemorrhage, irritability, malaise, muscle complaints, oedema, seizure, abnormal sensation, sleep disorders.

Rare: Angioedema, concentration impaired, disorientation, eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis, erythema nodosum, hallucination, hepatic disorders, memory loss, palpitations, pulmonary eosinophilia, suicidal tendencies, tremor.

Use in pregnancy only if needed (Category B). Lactation caution: Excreted in breast milk. Neonatal effects unknown.

Monitor psychiatric symptoms (anxiety, suicidal ideation). Not for acute asthma attacks. Check INR in bleeding disorders.

Elderly: No dose adjustment. Hepatic/renal impairment requires caution. Pediatric dosing based on age-specific guidelines.

There were no adverse experiences in the majority of overdosage reports. The most frequently occurring adverse experiences were consistent with the safety profile of Montium and included abdominal pain, somnolence, thirst, headache, vomiting and psychomotor hyperactivity. In the event of overdose, it is reasonable to employ the usual supportive measures; e.g., remove unabsorbed material from the gastrointestinal tract, employ clinical monitoring, and institute supportive therapy, if required.
