Motelity Tablet 2 mg

Motelity, containing Prucalopride Succinate 2 mg, is a prescription tablet manufactured by Nuvista Pharma Ltd. Priced at ৳24.00 per unit, it treats chronic constipation in adults unresponsive to laxatives. As an osmotic purgative, it stimulates intestinal motility via 5-HT4 receptors without cardiovascular risks linked to older drugs.

This tablet is taken once daily before/after meals. Adults receive 2 mg, while elderly patients start with 1 mg. Avoid use in children. Storage requires keeping the bottle sealed with desiccant at ≤30°C. Side effects like headache or diarrhea typically subside within days.

Drug interactions with ketoconazole may increase Motelity levels by 40%. However, it doesn’t affect warfarin or digoxin metabolism. Contraindicated in pregnancy/lactation, it demands contraception during treatment. Overdose management focuses on electrolyte balance and symptom relief.

Adults: 2 mg once daily. Elderly: Start with 1 mg, may increase to 2 mg. Renal impairment (GFR <30): 1 mg/day. Take before/after meals. Duration adjusted per clinical response.

The most frequently reported adverse reactions associated with Motelity therapy are headache (17.8%) and gastrointestinal symptoms (abdominal pain), nausea and diarrhoea. The adverse reactions occur predominantly at the start of therapy and usually disappear within a few days with continued treatment. Other adverse reactions have been reported occasionally. The majority of adverse events were mild to moderate in intensity.

Contraindicated in pregnancy. Avoid during lactation. Use additional contraception with oral pills.

Caution in lactose intolerance. Dose adjustment needed in renal/hepatic impairment. Monitor contraceptive efficacy.

Elderly: Initiate with 1 mg. Renal disease: 1 mg/day if GFR <30. Hepatic impairment: Start with 1 mg in Child-Pugh C.

An overdose may result in symptoms resulting from an exaggeration of prucalopride’s known pharmacodynamic effects and include headache, nausea and diarrhoea. Specific treatment is not available for Motelity overdose. Should an overdose occur, the patient should be treated symptomatically and supportive measures instituted, as required. Extensive fluid loss by diarrhoea or vomiting may require correction of electrolyte disturbances.
