Description

Motiper Tablet is a gastrointestinal medication containing Domperidone Maleate 10 mg, manufactured by Mystic Pharmaceuticals Ltd. Priced at ৳2.00 per unit (50’s pack: ৳100.00), this tablet addresses digestive disorders, nausea, and vomiting effectively.

It treats dyspeptic symptoms like bloating, acid reflux, and delayed stomach emptying. The drug enhances gastric motility by blocking dopamine receptors in the gut. Adults take 10-20 mg every 6-8 hours before meals. Children’s dosage depends on weight (0.2-0.8 mg/kg). Store below 30°C, away from light/moisture.

Key indications include:

  • Upper abdominal discomfort and heartburn
  • Acute nausea from migraines or medications
  • Parkinson’s-related vomiting
  • Barium meal acceleration in radiology

Common side effects (<1–2%) include dry mouth, headache, and mild diarrhea. Rarely, it may cause elevated prolactin levels. Avoid with MAO inhibitors and opioid painkillers. Not recommended during pregnancy but safe for lactating mothers. No overdose cases reported.

As a prokinetic agent, Motiper Tablet improves digestion without significant CNS effects. For alternatives like Motiper 5 mg/5 ml or detailed Domperidone Maleate data, visit Medexly’s generics section.

Dosage & Administration

Adults: 10-20 mg every 6-8 hours (15-30 mins before meals). Children: 0.2-0.4 mg/kg body weight. Dose reduction required in hepatic impairment. Maximum treatment duration: 12 weeks.

Side Effects

Side-effects are rare; exceptionally some transient intestinal cramps have been reported. Extrapyramidal phenomena are rare in young children and exceptional in adults: they reverse spontaneously and completely as soon as the treatment is stopped. As the pituitary gland is located outside the blood-brain barrier, domperidone may induce an increase in the plasma prolactin level. In rare case this hyperprolactinaemia may give rise to neuroendocrinological phenomena such as galactorrhoea and gynaecomastia. When the blood-brain barrier is immature (as in infants) or impaired, the possible occurrence of neurological side-effects cannot be totally excluded. Rare allergic reactions, such as rash and urticaria, have also been reported.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Not recommended in pregnancy. Compatible with lactation – minimal breast milk excretion.

Precautions & Warnings

High extrapyramidal risk in infants <1 year. Monitor liver function and prolactin levels during prolonged use.

Use in Special Populations

Pediatrics: Caution due to immature blood-brain barrier. Geriatrics: Adjust dose for age-related organ impairment. Hepatic disease: Requires dose reduction.

Overdose Effects

Symptoms of overdosage may include drowsiness, disorientation and extrapyramidal reactions, especially in children. In case of overdosage, the administration of activated charcoal, and close observation of the patients are recommended. Anticholinergic, antiparkinson drugs or antihistamines with anticholinergic properties may be helpful in controlling the extrapyramidal reactions.
