Movifast, manufactured by Ziska Pharmaceuticals Ltd, is an osmotic laxative containing Polyethylene Glycol 3350 + Electrolytes. This oral solution (13.125g + 350.7mg + 178.5mg + 46.6mg)/25ml treats constipation and fecal impaction in adults and children above 2 years. The drug works by increasing stool volume via osmotic action, softening feces, and enhancing bowel movements. Its electrolyte balance prevents dehydration. Clinical studies show negligible systemic absorption, making it safe for pregnancy and breastfeeding. For constipation, adults take 25ml dissolved in 100ml water once daily, adjustable to 2-3 doses. Fecal impaction requires 8 doses daily for ≤3 days.

Common side effects include diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, or anal irritation. Overdose may cause electrolyte imbalance, requiring rehydration. Avoid concurrent use with antiepileptics due to reduced absorption. Movifast’s therapeutic class classifies it as a rapid-acting, non-irritant laxative. Cardiac patients: ≤2 sachets/hour. Discontinue if edema/dyspnea occurs. Avoid prolonged use to prevent dependency.

Pediatric (2+ years): Dose adjustment needed. Geriatric/renal patients: No modification. Hepatic impairment: Monitor closely.

Severe pain or distention can be treated by nasogastric aspiration. Extensive fluid loss by diarrhea or vomiting may require correction of electrolyte disturbances.
