Rozavel Tablet 10 mg

Rozavel Tablet, containing Rosuvastatin Calcium, is a lipid-lowering medication manufactured by Sun Pharmaceutical (Bangladesh) Ltd. This 10 mg tablet costs ৳25.08 per unit, with pack sizes offering 3×10 tablets for ৳752.40. It primarily treats cholesterol disorders and reduces cardiovascular risks.

Prescribed for conditions like primary hyperlipidemia and atherosclerosis, Rozavel inhibits cholesterol synthesis by targeting HMG-CoA reductase. It lowers LDL-C (“bad cholesterol”) by up to 60% and raises HDL-C (“good cholesterol”). The drug is also used in pediatric patients (10+ years) with hereditary cholesterol issues.

Dosage varies from 5-40 mg daily, adjusted for Asian patients, renal impairment, or drug interactions. Notable precautions include avoiding grapefruit juice and dose limitations with cyclosporine. Common side effects include headache and muscle pain, while severe reactions like rhabdomyolysis are rare.

Available alternatives include Rozavel 5 mg and Rozavel 20 mg. Store below 30°C, away from moisture. Pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers should avoid this medication due to potential fetal harm.

Standard adult dose: 5-40 mg once daily, evening administration with/without food. Pediatric (10-17 yrs): 5-20 mg/day. Dose reduction required in renal impairment. Maximum 10 mg/day with Cyclosporine or antiretroviral combinations. Adjust dose at 4-week intervals under medical supervision.

Rozavel is generally well tolerated. The most frequent adverse events thought to be related to Rozavel were headache, myalgia, constipation, asthenia, abdominal pain and nausea.

Contraindicated in pregnancy (Category X). Not recommended during lactation. Discontinue immediately if pregnancy occurs.

Monitor LFTs baseline and at 12 weeks. Check CPK for muscle symptoms. Diabetics require glucose monitoring. Consider vitamin D supplementation in long-term use.

Elderly (>65 yrs) at higher myopathy risk. Dose adjustment required in renal impairment. Contraindicated in hepatic dysfunction. Pediatric use restricted to HeFH indication.

There is no specific treatment in the event of overdose. In the event of overdose, the patient should be treated symptomatically and supportive measures instituted as required. Hemodialysis does not significantly enhance clearance of Rozavel.
