Prof. Dr. Sayeba Akhter

Prof. Dr. Sayeba Akhter is a legendary figure in women’s health. She earned her MBBS from Chittagong Medical College and went on to obtain FCPS (OBGYN), FRCOG (UK), and several other international fellowships. She served as Professor and Head of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University. Currently, she is one of the distinguished doctors at MAMM’s Institute of Fistula and Women’s Health (MIFWOH).

She is globally recognized as the inventor of “Sayeba’s Method”—a low-cost condom uterine balloon tamponade that has saved millions of mothers from postpartum hemorrhage. For her monumental contributions, the Government of Bangladesh awarded her the Ekushey Padak, the nation’s second-highest civilian award. She is widely regarded as a best gynecologist doctor in Bangladesh.
