Bangladesh Medical University — previously known as Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) and widely recognized as PG Hospital — is the country’s leading postgraduate medical university located in Shahbagh, Dhaka. 1. Origins as IPGMR (1965)

The institution began in December 1965 as the Institute of Postgraduate Medical Research (IPGMR).
